When I am commissioned by Quintet to shoot a new craft ‘makes’ book I get to work in many lovely location houses with lots of opportunities for me to style my own shots. The very recent new Pop-Up card book I was commissioned to shoot I especially loved photographing against interesting backdrops, with an abundance of nice details/items for me to place in the frame in a supporting role to graphic cut-out cards themselves.
Here are a few I shot that day…
I am sure my 10 year old son would especially like to make the last one!
Wishing all the best of luck to Quintet at this October’s Frankfurt book festival.
What a busy fun day. The Kensal Flea raised a lot of money for the charities ‘Mayhew’, ‘Trekstock’ and ‘Contact the Elderly’. I met lots of super kids that took part in my pop up studio portraits. I loved looking through all the images once I got home, which are now up on the online gallery. With print orders coming in within the first hour the gallery was open, ‘Thanks guys!’ – of which I shall be donating 5% to http://www.Trekstock.com
For those that don’t know the Kensal Flea is held quarterly at ‘The Paradise Bar by way of Kensal Rise’… super venue. I think there were over 1,000 big and little people through the door throughout the day. The ambience was great with people from in and around the area coming along and contributing to a really nice friendly atmosphere. It was a first time for me and I am very much looking forward to the next.
Here below, is a small selection of the portrait that I took. Also check out my more natural editorial lifestyle child photography at http://www.lydiaevans.com/kids
What I love about Joyce is she does not realize just how beautifully photogenic she is. She was so easy to photography, so happy to pose which ever way I asked… a natural Professional! I hope that she enjoyed her photography shoot with me, and that these images are a great mother’s day present to treasure.
Photographing children you get to meet some very big personalities! Christian may have been small but he made himself larger than life with his funny clowning around at the shoot with his sisters Evelyn and Joyce. I managed to get him for a short moment to stand like a king on top of a stool and then just let him be himself, as I think we can see from this series of images I took of him. The last thing you should try to do on a kid’s shoot is to try to mould them into someone different… let them be themselves and capture that personality. Cheers Christian! You were a laugh.
A big thank you to the Corker Regert Family for popping along to my children’s studio portrait event. Pretty dresses, pretty smiles… great little models! I hope that your family and friends enjoy looking at them. Thank you Alexis for your feedback … ‘the photos are lovely! Just what I wanted from the family photo session. ‘
